Open Studio & Mycelium Workshop: MushLume Lighting at MADE Bush Terminal

from $35.00

Ticket Type:

We’re opening our doors — and inviting you into the world of living materials.

Join us at our new studio and showroom at MADE Bush Terminal in Sunset Park, Brooklyn for a special Open Studio + Hands-On Mycelium Workshop & Talk. This is an opportunity to experience MushLume in our new home, explore our growing collection of mycelium lighting, and step inside the process behind how our sustainable products are grown — not manufactured.

We know how busy schedules can be, so we are offering a weekday and weekend option for this event:

  • Thursday, March 26 @ 6-8pm

  • Saturday, March 28 @ 1-3pm

Throughout the event, you’ll be able to:

View our new studio & showroom and celebrate the new space with us
Explore our latest mycelium-grown lighting and acoustic systems, now on display in our new creative manufacturing space at MADE — a campus dedicated to Brooklyn-based makers and innovators.

Participate in a hands-on mycelium workshop
This is our first mycelium workshop in over 6 years! Roll up your sleeves and work directly with mushroom mycelium — nature’s binding agent and one of the most promising regenerative materials of our time. Guided by founder and biodesigner Danielle Trofe, you’ll form and pack your own mycelium planter to take home and watch grow into a solid, sculptural form.

Learn about mycelium & biofabrication
We’ll share insights into how we grow our products, from combining sustainably sourced hemp with mycelium to forming and drying each piece. The conversation will expand beyond lighting, exploring how biofabrication is being used across industries — from packaging and architecture to fashion and interior systems. Let’s rethink material production in a climate-conscious era!

By the end of the workshop, you’ll leave with:
✔ Your own mycelium planter (1 already grown planter and 1 molded by you to finish growing at home)
✔ A deeper understanding of regenerative materials
✔ A behind-the-scenes look at our growing practice

Whether you’re a designer, sustainability enthusiast, material explorer, or simply curious about what the future of manufacturing could look like, we’d love to welcome you into the studio.

Come celebrate this new chapter with us — and experience how science, design and manufacturing can exist as one shared practice.
