Greenbuild with Mindful MATERIALS

  • Javits Center 429 11th Avenue New York, New York, 10001 United States (map)

Greenbuild International Conference + Expo brings together architects, designers, manufacturers, and sustainability leaders to explore materials and ideas that support healthier, more resilient spaces. This October, the event returns to New York City, connecting the design community with practical approaches to shaping a more sustainable built environment.

MushLume table lamps will be on display within the mindful MATERIALS exhibit in the expo. Designed by the Center for Circularity in Interior Design, the 800sq ft space brings together collaborators across the building industry. Mindful MATERIALS works to advance material transparency and support more informed choices about the products that shape our surroundings.

At MushLume, we believe the materials we bring indoors should be considered as carefully as the spaces we create. Our lampshades are grown from mycelium, the root-like structure of mushrooms, and hemp, an agricultural byproduct. The mycelium naturally binds the hemp into sculptural forms without synthetic resins or added chemical fire retardants. The resulting shades bring warm light and organic texture into interiors, with a material that can be composted at the end of its useful life.

Visit the mindful MATERIALS exhibit to experience MushLume’s grown materials firsthand and explore how lighting can connect people to nature through both form and material.
