As 2024 has come to a close, we’re taking a moment to reflect on an incredible year of milestones, achievements, and collaborations. From international exhibitions to prestigious design awards, MushLume Lighting has continued to shine as a leader in sustainable and innovative lighting design. Here’s a look back at the moments that defined our year.
January 2024
Interior Design Show Toronto - https://interiordesignshow.com/toronto/
At the Interior Design Show (IDS) Toronto, MushLume Lighting pendants were featured in the Future Neighborhood exhibit, created by IA Interior Architects. The installation explored the merging of interior and exterior worlds, using bio-based materials and cutting-edge technology to foster connection and community. Our pendants, suspended amid a canopy of ferns, added natural textures and a grounding element to this immersive experience.

MushLume Lighting participated in the renowned Milan Design Week, showcasing our pendant lamps at the Isola Design Festival as part of the exhibition Is One Life Enough?. This thought-provoking showcase emphasized sustainable and circular design methods, featuring products crafted from biomaterials and recycled waste. It was an honor to be part of this global dialogue on the future of regenerative design.

During NYCxDESIGN, MushLume Lighting unveiled our latest collection of biofabricated lighting, An Ode to Nature, at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair in the ‘Look Book’ section of WANTED. This collection reflects a decade of innovation since our debut in 2014, celebrating the beauty and harmony of biophilic design. To learn more, you can view the collection now.

We also participated in The Crossroads at ICFF, a curated showcase of American design, where we displayed pendants in various finishes and sizes, including custom 36-inch Hemi pendants. The Crossroads, centered at the heart of the Fair, was in collaboration between the ICFF brand directors, Rockwell Group and Founder David Rockwell; and independent Curator and Editor Pei-Ru Keh. Founder Danielle Trofe joined a panel discussion on Material Innovation, exploring the possibilities of sustainable materials in design.

At the Wall Street Journal’s Future of Everything Festival, MushLume Lighting exhibited in The Lab, an interactive space showcasing pioneering technologies and innovations. Our biofabricated lighting sparked conversations about sustainability and the future of design.

During London Design Week, we joined Material Matters, presenting our lighting collection in the historic Bargehouse at OXO Tower Wharf. Founder Danielle Trofe participated in the Bio Matters panel, discussing how designers use biomaterials like mycelium and hemp to rethink product design and minimize environmental impact.

At High Point Market, MushLume Lighting was part of the Parsons Healthy Materials Lab exhibit, showcasing sustainable products in the beautifully restored 313 Space.
