Stylish Sustainability & Haitian Heritage Meet in this Canadian Home
Nestled on the serene shores of Kashagawigamog Lake in Haliburton, Ontario, this residence exemplifies how thoughtful design can transform a home. Interior design firm ACM Designs, envisioned this dining space to beautifully balance modern sophistication with organic warmth, weaving together natural elements and handcrafted artistry.
The client’s vision was to create a bright, organic kitchen that honored their Haitian heritage while incorporating eco-conscious materials. Above the island, Haitian-inspired handcrafted pendants set the tone for the space, complementing pristine Cambria countertops and a custom range hood made from sustainable plaster. Above the dining table, three of our Hemi Pendants in Medium contribute to the room’s warm and inviting atmosphere, their natural textures and diffused glow enhancing the biophilic design.
The result is a harmonizing display of diverse materials and influences that manages to still feel cohesive and balanced aesthetically. Every detail, from the sustainably-sourced accents to the natural lighting elements, was chosen with intention to reflect the client’s story and values. Working alongside ACM Designs, stylist Candice Brown, and photographer Eleanor Dobbins, were able to create a space that achieves sustainability, culture and modern elegance.
