The color of the mycelium skin is naturally white. Over time it will age and take on a slightly more golden hue. To maintain a bright white exterior, select the white milk paint option or explore available limewash colors.

How long will a mycelium lampshade last?

MushLume's oldest lampshades are 10+ years old and still beautiful. Even though the material is biodegradable, as an indoor lighting application it is stable and inert and will bring many years of use.

How do I clean a mycelium lampshade?

Use a duster and gently brush the exterior shade. Do not use any liquids or cleaners.

What spaces are best for mycelium lighting?

MushLume lighting is rated for indoor use only. Dry, climate-controlled environments are best. For bathroom or kitchen applications, painted options are recommended to preserve the material from moisture and airborne grease.

Is the Terrace Flush Mount safe for indoor use?

Yes. It is UL Listed and tested to ASTM E84 Class A fire performance, with no off-gassing or VOCs.

A Tala oval LED bulb sized to fit the fixture is included. For replacements, any E26 medium-base LED, 60W equivalent.

Can I customize the hardware finish?

Inspired by the natural beauty of terraced landscapes, the MushLume Terrace Ceiling Flush Mount Large — "Journey Inward" — is a low-profile 20–22-inch diameter fixture handcrafted from carbon-sequestering hemp and living mushroom mycelium — grown, not manufactured. Mounted flush to the ceiling on a 5-inch canopy, it brings sculptural presence to rooms with lower ceilings, hallways, and bedrooms where a hanging pendant won't fit. Each shade is hand-formed in our Brooklyn studio, so no two are exactly alike; finished dimensions vary by 1–2 inches. A Tala oval LED bulb, sized to fit the fixture, is included.
